Why Use This Tool?
Comma-separated data is compact to store and miserable to read. This splitter takes any delimited string — a CSV fragment, a tag list, a semicolon jumble from an old system — and breaks it into one clean item per line.
Empty segments from double delimiters are dropped automatically, and the custom mode accepts any single character or short string, including multi-character separators like ' | '.
How It Works
- Paste the delimited text.
- Pick a delimiter, or choose Custom and type your own.
- Copy the line-per-item result.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I split a string by comma?
Paste the string, keep the comma option selected, and click split — each value lands on its own line, with empty values from double commas removed.
Can I split by a custom delimiter?
Yes — choose Custom… and type any character or short string, such as ' | ', '::', or a tab.
Why did empty lines appear in my output?
They don't — empty segments caused by consecutive delimiters are filtered out automatically, so the output only contains real values.
Tips & Things to Watch
- Use 'Comma (,)' with the space included for the common 'a, b, c' format.
- Split first, then Remove Duplicate Lines for a clean unique list.
- Multi-character delimiters work — splitting on '::' handles nested formats.
